Stadic’s Tik Tok freestyle challenge goes viral with Stefflon Don

ATik Tok freestyle challenge from producer Stadic has gone viral with British rapper/singer Stefflon Don joining the fray.

Stefflon’s freestyle was featured on The Shade Room, Hollywood Unlocked and Hot 97 Instagram pages after she posted it to her IG page today.

Stadic’s freestyle challenge was also featured on BET Music’s page after Bunji Garlin dropped his contribution to the riddim.

Since the challenge was launched, over 700 people have submitted freestyles among them Vincentian artiste Skinny Fabulous, soca singer turned rapper Young Devyn, Zess queens Nelly Cottoy and Sammy Jo, Azaryah and USVI singer Adam O.

Stadic, born Kevin Charles in Trinidad and raised in St Vincent, told Loop he is blown away.

“Is a twofold thing,” he said of the purpose of the challenge.

“One of the main issues I have people is that people always say we doing a big riddim but we don’t give smaller artistes a chance so we said with this riddim why not give everyone the opportunity,” he explained.

Stadic explained that while artistes such as Stylo G and dancehall singer Ding Dong are already on the riddim, they plan to add others through the challenge.

He said the winners will be decided from those with the most responses on IG.

“The ones who get the most love, we will work with them to make sure they could give us a really good sound,” he said.

Stadic said he also started the challenge to enhance his Tik Tok platform which he only joined last month.

“I wanted to do something different so I said let me make it about my work process,” he said.

“I expected 10 videos, it’s been 703 so far. It is crazy and it is a blessing,” he said of the responses.

Stadic and his long-time collaborator Jonny Blaze have produced several riddims spanning the world of soca and dancehall among them the Candy Shack Riddim (Kerwin, Destra, Patrice Roberts, Nailah Blackman, Teejay ), Hustlers Riddim (Konshens, Mavado, Chris Martin) and Sexting Riddim (Kes, Konshens, Patrice, Chris Martin, Ding Dong and R&B singer Mya).

Asked if he was shocked when Stefflon jumped on the riddim. Stadic said she reached out to them earlier this week and she will be featured on the completed riddim, which does not yet have an official name.

Hailed as one of the pioneers of the Afro-Soca sound, Stadic has managed to work with a plethora artistes in the soca, dancehall, afro-beats and pop arenas.

In his six years, he has developed an extensive discography featuring collaborations with artistes spanning the globe such as Grammy award winners Mya and Beenie Man as well as major trending performers such as Afro B, Mavado, Fay-Ann Lyons, Machel Montano, Vybz Kartel, Bunji Garlin, Ding Dong, Konshens, Shenseea, Reekado Banks and Mr. Killa.

His music has been featured in a number of movies and television shows including Spike Lee’s “See You Yesterday”, Bravo’s “Real House Wives of Atlanta” and VH1’s Girls Cruise” among others.

Winners of the freestyle challenge will be announced on Vibes with Voicey on Thursday.
